Side Panel Removal

Here's a quick photo guide to removing the side panels on the DL 1000 V-Strom. You will need to get well aquainted with this process, as the side panels usually have te be removed to allow you to perform many of the routine maintenance tasks.
Tools required:
  1. Hex head sockets or Hex wrenches
  2. 3/8" ratchet
  3. Phillips head screwdriver

Starting from the top remove the two button head bolts in front of the tank.

Once those have been removed proceed to the side panel button heads. No real order is required, just make a note of which bolts went in what hole as there are three different bolts in this process.

When you have removed all the visible button head bolts take off the chin fairing. This is held in place by those little black plastic buttons. The chin fairing needs to be removed prior to taking off the side panel because there is a phillips head screw that holds the side plastic panel on concealed by the chin fairing.

Now you can remove the "hidden"screw and the side panel should be free.
