| Seats: | Here is the world famous seat page! The data collected will be my own experience, as well as those
trusted members of my staff. |
|
| OEM Seat | The seat that comes from Suzuki is an adequate seat for short runs or tiny little Japanese riders.
If, however, you happen to weigh more than a hundred pounds this seat will become uncomfortable quickly.
My experience was that after 45 minutes in the saddle the foam had compressed, and I was starting to get hot spots. |
|
| Suzuki Gel Seat | This seat is an inexpensive alternative to the OEM Seat. While rider who have them say there is still some discomfort
this appears to be after 200 or so miles. At $149 on up these are a reasonable replacement. |
|
| Corbin Canyon | This seat is my favorite. I love the Corbin foam, although it is on the firm side. For those of you who want a softer seat be advised
this seat can seem hard. Corbin has a very large seating area that spreads out the weight and makes for longer travel times.
I have ridden my Corbin in the triple digits in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah Colorado, etc. and it has never been uncomfortable.
If you want to buy an after market seat this is one of the best available for the V-Strom. An added plus is that it comes with
its own seat pan. Some of the other custom shops need the old pan from your OEM seat. Price is around $400.00 |

| Sargent | Sargent DayLong seats are very popular with Strom riders. Excellent fit and finish. Comfortable foam and decent riding position.
They don't call them "daylong" for nothing. A little soft for my tastes, but an excellent choice non the less. |
Bill Mayer Seats | I received an email from another V-Strom owner who said this regarding the Bill Mayer Seats "...Bill Mayer Saddles caters to the BMW crowd, but has a slogan I couldn't pass up "any butt, any bike" The whole process took about 4 hrs as they modify the existing seat foam with inserts that are tailored to your posterior on the bike and adjust ride height of seat for both rider's to ensure leg angle is adequate for optimum blood flow when seating. After a short test ride about 20m they confirm your comfort with no pinch points or hot spots, then make a mold of the creation and pour new foam in and bake for about an hour then cover and voila. For under $500. for vinyl and another $1h for leather you can't beat the quality and fit." Bill, Victorville Ca. |
| Seat Pads: | Here's a short list of pads to put on top of your stock seat. A cheaper alternative to buying a seat outright. |
|
| Airhawk | Airhawk pads are air bladders that you attach over the top of your seat. The idea is that you are sitting on a cushion of air, rather than an actual seat. Kind of expensive @ $200. | ![]() |
| Alaska Leather | These guys make some serious buttpads. Excellent reports on their products. |
